Engineering Medical Devices: from ideas to products, from bench to bedside

Abstract: In this talk, the speaker will present actual case studies and give an overview of development of medical devices from ideas to products launch, and from bench to bedside. Based on his own experience, he will emphasise the required elements of success, and how medical device development differs from that of typical electronic products.
Speaker: Mr. Sunny Chu, Associate Director of Engineering & Research Engineer, Emerging Viral Diagnostics (HK) Ltd.
About the speaker: Mr. Chu is experienced in project management and new product development. He received the B.Eng. degree and MPhil. in Electronic Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He has developed his career in the field of Biomedical product development since his graduation from University. He developed different medical devices in medical school of CUHK and Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI). He has also developed diagnostics devices in three different molecular diagnostics companies in Hong Kong. Currently he works in Emerging Viral Diagnostics (HK) Limited for developing a new rapid diagnostic system.
